Who This Course Is For

The Drink Drive Behaviour Change Program is designed for first-time drink drive offenders in Victoria with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) reading below 0.150 gm/100mls. If VicRoads has issued you a relicensing letter specifying a first-stage behaviour change program, this is the course for you.

Not sure which program applies to you? If you've been charged with a drug-related offence, our drug driving behaviour change program may be more appropriate. For repeat offenders or those with a BAC of 0.150 or above, please see our intensive behaviour change program. You can also browse our full BCP programs in Victoria to find the right fit.

What the Drink Driving Course Includes

This alcohol behaviour change course is a six-hour group program delivered across two sessions, held one week apart (three hours per session). Sessions are run by qualified, VicRoads-accredited drug and alcohol professionals in a supportive group environment.

You'll receive a participant handbook at the start of the program,so all you need to bring is your ID. The course covers:

  • The effects of alcohol on driving ability and decision-making

  • Understanding your own relationship with alcohol

  • Strategies to reduce risk and make safer choices going forward

  • Information on the relicensing process and next steps

Sessions are available across Melbourne and major regional Victorian cities, making it easier to find a time and location that works for you.

Are Drink Driving Courses Available Online in Victoria?

The VicRoads drink driving program is a structured group-based course, and in most cases, in-person attendance is required. The group environment is a core part of how the program works, and isn't easily replicated in an online format.

That said, online options may be available in specific circumstances. For example, if you live in a remote area without reasonable access to a face-to-face session, or if there is a documented medical or accessibility reason that prevents you from attending in person. Any request for an online drink driving course must be assessed and approved on a case-by-case basis.

For the majority of participants, a drink driving online course is not an option. If you believe you may be eligible for an online or remote attendance option, please contact us directly on 1300 123 723 before booking. Our team will talk through your situation, confirm what VicRoads will accept, and help you find the most appropriate path forward.

How It Helps

The drink driving behaviour change program is designed to give you genuine, practical insight into how alcohol affects your driving and your life. Our facilitators bring years of real-world experience to each session, creating a safe space where you can ask questions, hear from others in similar situations, and leave with a clearer picture of the road ahead.

Completing this VicRoads safe driving program is a mandatory step in the relicensing process, but participants often tell us it was more useful than they expected.

Next Steps to Getting Your Licence Back

Once you've completed the VicRoads drink driving course, you'll be issued a certificate of completion. This forms part of your evidence for VicRoads when applying to have your licence reinstated.

Here's a general overview of the process:

  1. Receive your relicensing letter from VicRoads outlining which program you must complete

  2. Book and attend your drink driving program with Drink Drive Victoria

  3. Receive your completion certificate

  4. Apply to VicRoads for licence restoration

If your situation involves additional requirements, our team can assist with a licence eligibility order application as a separate service.

Please do not book your program until you have received your relicensing letter from VicRoads confirming which program you are required to complete. If you haven't received it yet, contact us on 1300 123 723 and we'll help you get the right information before you book.
